Enhancing Customer Experience Through Augmented Reality

Caldicot-based Catipilla, a leading brand specialising in stylish, wall-mounted cat furniture, wanted to explore ways to enhance the customer experience. Their customers faced difficulty visualising how their products would fit into their home environments and struggled to select the right colours, textures, and sizes to match their existing décor. To address these concerns, Catipilla collaborated with CEMET, to develop an innovative augmented reality (AR) solution to enhance the shopping experience and simplify the decision-making process.

What Did We Do?

CEMET worked closely with Catipilla to design and build an AR mobile application aimed at transforming how customers interact with their products. The app was developed with the primary goal of making it easier for customers to visualise Catipilla’s products in their own homes, while also providing customisation features to match their interior design preferences.

The AR app features a comprehensive product library, showcasing all of Catipilla’s offerings with options to modify the colours, textures, and sizes. This allows users to experiment with various customisation options and virtually place the products on their walls in real time. Additionally, the app integrates a seamless purchasing pathway with direct links to Catipilla’s order website, simplifying the process from visualisation to purchase.

How Did We Do It?

CEMET’s development process focused on user experience and technological innovation.

  • AR Integration: Utilising advanced AR technology, the team ensured that the virtual representations of Catipilla’s furniture would be accurately positioned within a customer’s home environment. This included developing a system for realistic scaling and rendering of textures and materials so that users could see a true-to-life preview of the products.

  • Customisation Features: The app includes a robust set of customisation tools that enable users to alter product colours, textures, and sizes directly within the AR interface. This was achieved through a flexible UI design, ensuring users could intuitively navigate the options and experiment with different configurations.

  • E-commerce Integration: CEMET also focused on streamlining the user journey by integrating a direct purchasing option within the app. Customers can easily transition from visualising a product to ordering it, significantly reducing friction in the buying process.

Through this collaboration, Catipilla is now equipped with a tool that enhances customer engagement and boosts sales by allowing customers to make informed decisions based on how products will look in their actual living spaces. This project showcases the potential for AR in retail, setting a new standard for personalised shopping experiences.

CEMET is proud to continue to support Catipilla through the development of this new service. To find out more about their latest work visit their website or follow them via Instagram or Facebook.

CEMET have delivered an amazing AR tool for Catipilla. The AR app breathes real life into our products and helps customers make better, informed choices before they buy.
