a new voice-assist support for school leavers
miFuture is an app that connects school leavers with vacancies, courses, training and volunteer opportunities in a format that supports and complements their lifestyles. The company also provide employability and continued education support for school leavers.
miFuture felt that many school leavers were underprepared for post-education interview opportunities. This feeling of being underprepared for interviews often resulted in abandonment of job interviews. As a result of this, many employers were missing out on high quality candidates. miFuture wanted to change this and instead empower all school leavers when attending interviews. To do this, they recognised that they needed to revolutionise the frustrating career process that is yet to embrace digital innovation.

miFuture approached CEMET to add an intelligent voice assistant to their existing application so that users could practice for job interviews across varied sectors and job types. Set within a realistic scenario, with the aim of empowering school leavers before attending an interview, the voice assistant listens to the users answer before moving onto the next question. The user is finally given feedback on how they performed, with recommendations for improvements if needed.
Through usability testing, CEMET discovered that users within the target demographic gave more in-depth answers when they were immersed in the virtual interview. Clarity and realism of speech then became critical to the success of the project. The voice assistant keeps the conversation flowing by adding a quick reply to the users answer before moving onto the next question, which helps the interview flow better and feel more realistic.
